As the largest community bank on the Central Coast, the safety and health of our associates, clients and communities has been paramount to our daily operations throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. We take this responsibility seriously and have strived to continue delivering the level of service our clients and communities have come to expect from us, every single day. It is with that in mind that we share the below updates as our communities begin the re-opening process and we continue to prioritize the well-being of our associates, clients and communities.
Branch Operations – as of February, 2021
We’ve implemented a number of temporary changes to our daily branch operations for the safety of our associates and clients, and we ask that you take a minute to familiarize yourself with these new practices. Please review our branch entry requirements here, before visiting any of our branches.

Associates and clients must wear face coverings (non-medical) at all times, whether in line or while inside a branch.
Cough Guards have been installed at each active teller stand and personal banker desk.
Gloves are optional and at the associate's discretion. If they choose to wear them, they will change them regularly and wash / sanitize their hands after touching and removing used gloves.
We will manage capacity in the branch at any one time, to ensure 6 feet of social distancing, including helpful floor markers to assist clients in maintaining the 6 foot minimum.
Sanitizer stations will be prominent within the branch. Clients are welcome to take a mini bottle with them as a complimentary gift.
Associates will wash their hands following each transaction, or more frequently, with soap and water, or use hand sanitizer.
Pens are complimentary and we encourage clients to take the one they’ve used with them.
Branches will be cleaned each evening, and receive a deep clean each week.
Common surfaces will be cleaned regularly throughout the day.
We are proud to have secured over $205 million of Paycheck Protection Program funds for local Santa Barbara and Ventura county businesses, supporting nearly 22,000 employees’ jobs at over 1,800 companies and organizations.
In support of our business clients, we have purchased over $23,000 worth of gift cards and merchandise from local restaurants, retailers and wineries. Additionally, we have purchased over $11,000 in take-out lunches from our restaurant clients to deliver lunches regularly to our associates who are holding down the fort in our offices each day.
To encourage our clients to #ShopLocal from home during May's Small Business Month, MB&T Rewards Credit cardholders received 3x the rewards on all purchases made to local restaurants and retailers.
We have donated over $155,000 to local nonprofits that are providing COVID-19 related relief to Santa Barbara and Ventura communities, including Foodbank of Santa Barbara County, Food Share of Ventura County, United Way of Santa Barbara County, Sansum Clinic, and Ventura County Community Foundation.
Our 28th annual Anniversary Grants reception went virtual this year with bank associates and local nonprofits celebrating via a live WebEx chatroom and video presentation where the nonprofits were awarded $45,000 to celebrate the Bank's 45th Anniversary.
In July, our annual United Way Workplace campaign went virtual and raised over $27,000 through creative and socially-distanced efforts. It was a successful, innovative and fun way to connect our 230+ associates while raising money for a good cause and long-term community partner.
Schools may be closed, but our year round efforts to teach financial literacy to local students continues with on-demand and live virtual classes that have been taught to over 1,000 local students in 9 different schools through more than 50 hours of associate volunteer time.
